OGI has completed a full inventory of Oregon Cascade glaciers that allows us to assess rates of retreat and place those in historic context. Glaciers are retreating on all six of the glacierized volcanos at their fastest rate in history. Mt. Hood is losing ice at 3.6% area lost per year, Mt. Jefferson is at 4.1% area lost per year, North Sister is 3.3%, Middle Sister is 4.4%, South Sister is 5.0% and Broken Top's two glaciers are losing area at 11.3% per year. It is time to stop using fossil fuels and switch to clean, renewable energy to power the world and stop global warming. Please support our work by donating this holiday season here
