OGI has completed its census of Oregon's glaciers. Of the 50 glaciers that existed in the Cascades in the 1950s, only 27 remain. For the Wallowas, there was only one official glacier, Benson. Benson Glacier is now a stagnant ice mass making the Wallowas glacier free. That said, there were likely at least another ten or so unofficial glaciers in the Wallowas in the 1950s, all of which are also gone.
