OGI has published two stories on now-gone glaciers in the Oregon Cascades. This is part of the international Global Glacier Casualty List project: https://glaciercasualtylist.rice.edu/
We submitted stories on the Clark Glacier on South Sister and Glisan Glacier on Mt. Hood.
Building on these stories, we are working on a paper for the United Nations Vanishing Glaciers project that will be submitted to a special issue of the Annals of Glaciology. Here we focus on documenting all the named glaciers in the Oregon Cascades that are critically endangered, almost disappeared or disappeared based on our 5 years of field observations.
On a side note, we have begun a collaboration with the Mazama Mountaineering Club where they will measure spring snowpack thickness on Eliot Glacier on Mt. Hood going forward. This resurrects the Mazamas research program that they had run monitoring glaciers from the 1920s up to the 1980s.
