Mt. Bachelor

Mt. Bachelor (or Bachelor Butte) just south of Broken Top is another example of a glaciated summit that the U.S.G.S. missed in mapping:

Unlike Three Fingered Jack, the U.S.G.S. did put a snow or ice body where Dutchman glacier flowed; see topographic map at left.

Dutchman glacier was still an active glacier in the early 1980s with crevasses; this is after the ski area opened on the mountain.

Dutchman glacier is now gone, as shown by the September 2021 satellite image at left. In 2015, a patch of remnant ice was observed near the summit, showing how recently this glacier that many skied upon disappeared.
